I really enjoy these Anderson Valley PN's with some time away, teetering on dried cherry, over-ripe cherry on the nose and faint stem notes. Palate shines with dried strawberry, dried cherry, faint forest floor and shaved bittersweet chocolate. I believe this will be in prime form in 2028-30+.
Enjoyed with a Cherry wood smoked pork tenderloin, Kosher salt/pepper rub. Pork was topped with a mushroom/Madeira reduction, great pairing of wood smoke, fortified wine & mushrooms.
Smoked dinners are interesting here, as normally I'm getting licked/bitten by a cat though the entire meal; he's our foodie guy, so par for the course.

Nose has perfectly dehydrated strawberry+raspberry, crushed ripe black cherry, bittersweet chocolate chips and moist forest aromas.
Palate has strawberry jam, dried raspberry, earthy tones and dark chocolate with a long finish, excluding tannins.
In a perfect spot for loving a perfectly aged Anderson Valley PN...
Paired to pork tenderloin medallions in a Maitake/Sage/Madeira sauce.

Nose has cherry jam, wet leather, wet leaves, alcohol and dried cranberries.
Palate has under-ripe tart cherry, dried raspberries, dry leather and faint dry soil notes.
Not holding as well as the 2005 enjoyed over two evenings earlier this week. If improvement comes at 24H, notes might be updated. Decanted 90m.

Tight, very tight consider it’s 2016 vintage
Took almost 2 hours to open up
Which is a good sign,
Lot of cooked fruit, balance, and juicy fruit palate

What a disappointment! Even being open for a couple days it’s still was just acid in tannins. Very little fruit.

Apr 23rd, 2020The other Pinot for Hedy’s Turkey. Brought it for those that like a firmer structure, dark spice and cinnamon stick in their Pinot Noir’s. This was also selected to go with the Turkey and take us into dessert as the pumpkin pie I made has clove in it. If you haven’t had pumpkin pie with clove, you should try it. Much more interesting because of the character it brings. Deeper flavors without taking away from the sweet in pumpkin pie.
