Top Notes For
Sipping Fine Wine

The name "Gnarly Heads" came from the way vines were "head pruned" prior to modern trellising techniques, giving the vines a gnarly look. Dark red with berry fruit aromas and some gnarly spice. On the palate blackberry and plum flavors, strong pepper spice with oaky notes. Firm big tannins on medium finish. Lacks finesse.

The nose smells of blackberries and baking spices. It smells like my grandmother’s blackberry cobbler. This wine is easy drinking but it has a short finish. Plenty of black fruit on the palate with a little bit of smoke. 8.5 out of 10.

Super dark and fruity up front with red berries and a touch of tobacco. Very good on its own but let it breathe and add some food. Great value.

What this one lacks in flavor makes up for in alcohol. Good table wine with a strong punch!

I’m finding during quarantine that my cheaper reds from 2013-2015 taste stinking good....

I was hoping this would be big and bold... because it has a black bottle. I never thought I would say this, but the Apothic is better. It’s plum and blackberry up front, then goes nowhere. I drank it alone while wrapping Christmas gifts. Maybe I’d like it more with salami and havarti.
