Brunate - Le Coste Barolo Nebbiolo

Wednesday Wine Committee. 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind as usual.

Much better compared to the ‘98 it shared the table with. Much more lively...black peppercorn, tar, bay leaf, rose petal and a density in the middle without being too heavy. Tart red and black fruits all over the entry and finish. Still on the upward trajectory. I called this CdP.

Completely shut when opened, took an hour or so to start to open. Hallmark brunate dark iron fruit. Tannins firm, the last glass was the best. Will wait a few years before I try the next

Dark yet refined with a nose of black and red fruits with savory herbs. On the palate, it is classic to the core and expands across the palate. Simply fabulous and utterly classic. This is a wine I will put in my cellarm

This '08 took about 45min to blow off an unusual bit of sulfur and redux but then was very good in a sharp group.

Does Barolo get much better than this? Second day and this wine is just unbelievable. Power, detail, and elegance.

No brett, just right.

Showing oak and copious tannins. No doubt it's Nebbiolo but a bit closed up. Was opened 24 hrs.

This was a beautiful Barolo still far from its peak with a velvety, silky texture showing cherry, rose petal, licorice, graphite & violet.

Great vintage for Rinaldi showing beautiful aromatics, structure & balance that will drink well for many years showing notes of cherry, leather, licorice, dried herbs, tar, menthol, & rose petal.

A hint of stew Sweet. Ok.
