Giuseppe Quintarelli
Bianco Secco Veneto White Blend
Served double blind. Light golden color with medium viscosity; no signs of sediment or gas. On the nose, a complex mix of stone fruits, melon, citrus, some tropical fruits. On the palate, more stone fruits, melon, citrus and nondescript tropical fruits, lanolin, wet rock…maybe Chenin(??) but I don’t get white flowers on the nose. Whatever, this is, it’s delicious. Fresh and long with lovely minerality and fit body, medium acid…a wine of texture. I was stumped. I went with a recent vintage of Chenin from a non-traditional region though I didn't like my pick and I wondered out loud if it could be Garganega. Low and behold, it was a blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Sauvignon Bianco, Chardonnay, Saorin. No wonder I was so flummoxed. Who cares, this is awesome and I want more of this in my life!
