Not as tannicly aggresive as 2012, a little more femminine vintage for Mascarello Freisa with more floral, violets and chalky cherry deliciousness. This really shows how diverse and magical Freisa can be. Vineyards are in Castiglione Falletto close to Monprivato. 🌹🍒🍇

Apr 15th, 2017Great affordable alternative to Barolo. It has the tannins and texture but is slightly more approachable in its youth. First day showed slightly more savory and herbal notes, also a bit of savage character. Day two, mellowed out somewhat and more red fruit notes came forward-especially red currant, barberries, and sour cherries. Love the intensity on the back mouthfeel and the less astringent tannins. Great, everyday wine. Want to drink with a rich sauce...paprikash?
