Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend
A bit more subdued and settled than the last bottle I drank a couple of years ago. The fruit has pulled back a bit, and it’s showing a leaner, more savory side. While not something to ponder on its own, it’s a great accompaniment to dishes like tonight’s ragu, and at bottom I guess that’s what Ripassos are made for.

Oct 4th, 2021Surprisingly pure fruit character for a ripasso. Terrific balance.

Dec 4th, 2020I love the luminous color on this! Beautiful melange of fresh and dried cherry on the nose. Subtle sweet spice. Very direct, intense, and pure in the mouth. Great, puckery acids. Not complex, but wonderful with the tomatoey, herby, chicken thigh pasta sauce I made.

Jun 4th, 2019This "poor Man's Amarone" made our day!.) Dark ruby color with burgundy shades. Evolution of aroma is impressive, it's like "three-storey building". "Вasement" packed with smoldering peat & fallen leaves, petroleum, licorice. The second "floor" gives aroma of smoked meat. Finally, black berries and hints of wet autumn leaves are on a dessert. Juicy and strong. Berries accompany dark cherries in a palate and 5-spice is in aftertaste. Actually second day this Ripasso is none the worse!

Feb 5th, 2023Probably should rate it higher, it was phenomenal with the grilled eggplant plant, peper, fennel, feta and an awesome homemade red wine vinegarette with orange, garlic, Dijon mustard, balsamic. It brought out the earthy spiciness of the Ripasso, dark plum, fig extracts.
