Giovanni Sordo
Monvigliero Barolo Nebbiolo
In a way serious and ambitious, but sadly at the same time already dried out and premature. Acidity is fine as is the quality of tannins, but the dried fruit cake flavours sets it apart from better wines. Better a few years back. Disappointing.

Feb 1st, 20196+ hour decant. Red currant and lingonberry. Subtle clove and leafy notes too. Midpalate lacks depth and overall I'm left wanting more complexity. Still very tannic, think cottonmouth dry. Finish lasts with persistence and creaminess. Structure is there, but this lacks layers and depth.
