I adore this Dolcetto. Nose is blackberries, leather, blueberries and smoke. Super aromatic. Layered and so pure. Just terrific. Palate is a masterful blend of ripe blackberry fruit that is super juicy and just bursting with tiny berry fruit intensity and so much flavor but backed by a strong mineral component. Not a better Dolcetto for the money. Remarkable wine. Can age for a decade.

Aug 9th, 2022Now onto the 19 which is a superstar vintage in Piedmont. Wow this nose is outstanding. Super deep and pure violets. What clarity. Stunning. 9.4 nose. Just sick. Unreal clarity of fruit. So vivid. Like one has 20/10 smell! Earthy and crushed stones and outrageous blackberry fruit. Palate is more backwards than the 18. It is tight but focused like a laser. Huge structure and much room for development. Unreal concentration and complexity. So so good. This is even more focused than the 18. Awesome blackberry fruit. Really really mineral on the finish. Great linearity and energy here.

Palate is super juicy and round with wonderful complexity and a softness. So pure. So deep. Loads of red and black berries. Big structure and grip from this which is typical of Dogliani. Dogliani can age for a decade at least. Such a pretty wine and shows what Dolcetto can do in the right hands.

Palate is ripe, juicy and chiseled with a blackberry, granite infused minerality and energy. So pure. Dogliani is the truth for the best Dolcetto. The energy and minerality mixed with the classic dark berry yet bright Dolcetto fruit makes this a winner. Terrific and thoroughly ripe tannins and just incredible fruit purity. Wonderful.

Big earthiness as well .Palate is gorgeous, sleek and ripe with terrific cutting Dolcetto tannins and dynamic freshness. Terrific grip and concentration. Ripe and juicy tannins that suggest 5-7 more years ahead of this. Terrific wine.

Nice Dolcetto with a little age. Great velvet tannins. Delicate acids, some tar, cocoa powder, black tea, leather, touch of vanilla, dried red fruit. 03/25/23

P: The palate is broad and dark, with a delicious bitter finish. Dark berried, w great acidity that makes you(me) smack your lips. Nicely, nicely, done.
We’ll see how long the rest last.
