What a crazy score at Grocery outlet for $6. One of the best NZSB’s we’ve had. Ultra complex and delicious. Has aged well too.

An older bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc opened by our host Alex Giesen in his Puligny chateau.

Photos of our new friends Lisa Giesen, my wife Debbie, the Palm tree shirted author of this post, Alex Giesen, my wine travel companions for this trip, Sandra & James.

Bottled under stelvin, this bottle had lost a minor amount of acidity, but you'd never guess it was 9 years old. A nice pull from Alex's private cellar.

A bit nutty and floral on the nose. A hint of Parmesan as well. Palate is delicate and without the extremes of most Marlborough SBs. Mandarin and white grapefruit with gravel and sandstone. + acidity. Nice long briny finish.

Fruity and sweet, not too dry for me. Smooth, medium tannin. Typical Australian wine.

Everything I love in a Sauvignon Blanc, but more full bodied. Would be amazing with food, especially rseafood or Thai food.grjm

Maybe my bottle was off. Harsh grass on the nose and weird chemical aftertaste. Did not care to finish the bottle.
