Giant Steps
Single Vineyard Wombat Creek Vineyard Chardonnay
Yarra Valley, Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia

This wine has a beautiful balance of stone and tropical fruit with crisp but not overbearing acidity. Acacia, Lemon, green apple, white peach and thyme happily nestle with vanilla, clove and a hint of hazelnut that gives a clue to lively future development. Medium body, and a long finish that leaves the palate refreshed and longing for another sip.

A quality wine by any measure. Strong flint and yeast notes. Palate starts round and powerful and then becomes mouthwatering and juicy with citrus and flinty acidity. Palate then ends with brioche and caramel and goes on and on. Outstanding p/q. You’d need to go burgundy 1er cru to get this level of balance, power, and complexity.

Mealy, brioche, mixed with fresh lemon and slate. Perfect balance of steely mineral, lemon sweetness, and buttery brioche. Wombat creek has been my favourite single vineyard Giant Steps a few times. This is outstanding. A complete wine.

Interesting savoury nose with onion, lead, gunpowder, and creamy lees notes. Palate is broad - marzipan, wax, almond, mixed in with traditional citrus and vanilla flavours. Big and serious. At Flamsheed tasting with RR.
