Ghost Block
Estate Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Inky in color with a reddish rim.
Strong nose of black fruits with chocolate notes, cedar, vanilla, tobacco, Indian spices and licorice.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, vanilla, chocolates, tobacco, spices, peppercorn, coffee, cola and herbs.
Long spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is another terrific wine from the problematic 2020 vintage in Napa Valley. Nicely balanced, complex and smooth. Elegant with a great mouthfeel.
Rich, extracted and in your face kind of wine. The nose is really gorgeous at this point.
Drinking beautifully now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes in the decanter. Good by itself as a sipping wine.
A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. Organic.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$80.

Magnum bottle. Plum, prune, fig, raisin. Still fruit driven, but it’s definitely crested the hill. Fun bottle.

Nicely balanced and fruit forward. Tasty and delicious. Loved smelling on it for a long time.
Good right out of the bottle, but so much better after 2 hours of airtime.
I had this vintage over a year ago, and it is so much better now. Will be even better in 5 years.

Nov 19th, 2020A real gem. Beautiful. Definitely let it open for an hour before drinking. Poised, deep, dark cherry flavor profile and tons of structure. Nicely extracted. A great Napa cab.

Here is a delicious one from Napa Valley.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, cedar, leather, light vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, dark chocolates, light alcohol and spices.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, vanilla, coffee, toast, peppercorn, light alcohol, dark chocolates and pencil lead.
Long finish with round tannins, tangy cranberries and red chili pepper.
This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Nicely balanced with mild complexity and a great mouthfeel.
A very nice sipping wine, and good with food too.
Ripe, but not overwhelming with fruit. Gentle and restraint.
Very enjoyable by itself, with a tangy and spicy finish, which is interesting.
Wine Enthusiasts 92 points. Wine Spectator 93 points.
Drinking nicely already, but still young. I would love to revisit this in 3 years.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly. I paired it with cheeses, crackers and olives.
A blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (60% New).

Dec 24th, 2019What a score. We just received an allocation from Ghost Block of 2006 Oakville Cab, and we're offering it at its original 2006 release price of $65! Drinking it right now for the first time, and I'm in love. Parker says this 12 year old Cab may last til 2028, but it's certainly singing right now
