I’m tasting a different wine than the other reviewers, or perhaps the lack of structure in 2011s wreacked havoc. Either way, this is quite volatile and murky/unfocused, although it does bring a very pretty rosehip/spice element. Lots of balsamic and mint. Came alive with aged hard cheese, duck rilletes.

Wow...just wow...a beautiful benchmark Barolo. Superb mouthfeel with long, lingering tannins that remind of finishing sandpaper. Explosive and expansive pallet of stewed prunes, fig, leather, tar, and freshly stained wood rushes in after sampling scents of figs, raisins, damp crushed flowers and forest floor. Please, please take your time with this superb wine: serve lightly chilled and decant for at least an hour, then sumptuously sip over 2 hours. Definitely worth adding to any collection.

We got fooled on this one. So musty-dusty smelling that we thought it was corked or bad, so we just set it on the counter. The next night we tried it again for kicks and decided we should decant and see what we have. Good decision! Triple decanted and let it sit for awhile. We would have waited another day if we could, but had other plans so went ahead and drank it. Five hours later it was still opening. Next time we'll probably open it the night before and double decant and let it sit all day. We didn't get the raisin flavor this time. Dry and lots of leather. Delish!!

This is for the Riserva: Wow. Absolutely blown away. This is extraordinary wine. Comparable to the best wines we've ever tasted. Leather and raisins but dry and just absolutely delicious.
