Gérard Raphet
Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir

No. 5 of 9 in the Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru bracket. Tasted blind. Showing that Gevrey Chambertin earth and muscle (even though ended up being a Charmes which gets a little less sun than Le Chambertin to its north). My notes: Cherry, Liquorice, Tar; palate staining intensity - sweet, picked later in the season? Quantity produced down as Gevrey C hit hard by the frosts. Liked this a lot.

This wine is amazing and a real find for its $$$
This was highly recommended from my JJ Buckley rep. Lots of red fruits , mineral and spice with good structure and balance, reaching its peak drinking window and will drink well for many years. This has everything you look for in Burgundy for half of the price($76) Highly recommended!

Beautiful drinking 07 with rich, sappy dark cherry, sweet spices, mineral & violet. This is a wine that I purchased multiple cases of after trying. So good now but has the structure & balance to age many more years.

Exhibits a lot of subtlety and finesse for the region, with savory notes dominating the nose and palate. There’s a lot going on under the surface with cherries taking a back seat to wild earthy notes, rose petal, spice, and a very chalky minerality. It doesn’t have the power of other Chambertin great wines, but it’s incredibly complex and elegant.

Lovely drinking Burg that seems to be fully mature with notes of black cherry, raspberry, iron, Asian spices, blood orange, crushed rock & rose petal.
