Vieilles Vignes de Gervans Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
Glorious and elegant. In am amazing spot. More later.
Nose is granite and flowers. Hit of opulence. White pepper blizzard. So stunning. Some olive and bacon. So integrated and expansive. Palate is elegant and juicy. Sappy and clean. So gorgeous and pure. Really resolved and one of the first 15’s I’ve had that’s in secondary land. It’s so beautiful. Awesome freshness and energy. Great granitic intensity. 9.4 to 9.5 overnight. Wow. Gorgeous meatiness to it now. Nose has stunning olives. Wow wine.

Dec 2nd, 2018This is one of the top Crozes of the vintage. Stunning granite infused nose. Huge terroir expression. This is old vines and in a top sector of Crozes Hermitage. Black olive. Black berry. Dark, deep, lurid nose. So feral and expressive. Flowers and mint. Just an insane nose. Incredible elegance and ripeness with a firm crunchy granite footprint. Sappy and juicy with incredibly density and sweetness. So pure. Layered. Sweet velvety tannins. Remarkable wine.

Jan 28th, 2018Wow. Inky black fruit. Gamey nose with son licorice. Intense blackberry almost with a touch of blueberry fruit with just fine licorice woven in. Mineral spine. Juicy. Balanced. Awesome texture. Stunningly well made. Maybe the best crozes I’ve ever had. Just a ridiculously delicious wonderful wine. Lingers on the palate. If this had a touch more complexity it would be a world class wine it’s so well made. Wow. Bought from Fass Selections

1 person found it helpfulMar 17th, 2018Nose: lilacs, black olives
Palate: elegant blackberries, hints of licorice, echoes of rubber.
A very elegant Crozes. Almost like a Cote rotie made in Crozes hermitages.
But I want more cowbell. A skoche more density and this is crazor.

Loved this - in a perfect spot. Only downside was that it was my last bottle of the ‘15. Good call to open now @Lyle Fass
