A Step back with this screw cap Merlot. It was really cheap on sale at the local grocer. It's not bad, but lacks robust flavor or any noticeable character. It is thin.

While it is not a BAD wine, it's not exactly what I would deem a good merlot. Upon first sniff/taste, I commented that it was very light and fruity for a merlot. My husband, who had been outside grilling, came in and sipped his and promptly stated the same thing, much to the delight of our kids. It may hold up well to a pork or white fish, but it certainly didn't go well with our steak.
