Enjoying this by the tree and shifting my mindset towards Christmas. Loads of blueberry pie and new leather on the nose give way to boysenberry jam, cassis, tobacco, and sweet spice. A crowd pleaser for sure. And a great 2011. Many thanks to @Martin G Rivard for gifting this to me back in October!

@Martin G Rivard thanks for sharing this bottle with Jennifer and I. So integrated, with no edges. Cassis and tobacco on the nose. Ripe and juicy with plum, blackberries and mocha. Finish rides nicely with firm yet balanced tannins. Gives backbone and substance. Decanted two hours.

Having 3 of these I figured it would be a nice time to see how this one is doing. Well, I think that this one has probably reached the very front of the optimal drinking window. Took about 15 minutes of air. The nose was red fruit, mint, red licorice, raspberry and oak. Lossa lossa oak. Entry is a little acidic, minty, flinty, red fruit dominant. Middle of this wine tones down a bit and really finds a nice little groove. Finishes with a lot of astringency (say what?) for a 2011. Structure is what. Quality is what. And I think this one has the power to go another 15 years and be juuuust fine, which I'm not sure I could say about many 2011's from the Napa floor. Drink with 30 minute decant or hold for another 5-10 years.

Gargiulo never disappoints. I preferred the 2012 but still good.

Just what I want in a cab. Thx to the wine Santa @Martin G Rivard I am able to enjoy this bottle which shows well now. Full of black cherries, black currants and some pepper. I also taste cocoa nibs with some fig. So much to this bottle. Full of delight. They say I know 11 was a challenged year but to the right wine makers, like GV they were up for the challenge!
Thank you again Martin. Udaman! !!

2011 vintage. Just a hint of spearmint on the nose. Also some rose petals, trail dust, cinnamon and cedar/pencil shavings. Light/medium body. Fleshy mouthfeel up front dwindling to a lean subtle finish.
