This is the perfect example of a salty island wine. Rich and round texture, pointing to its warm climate, though so tangy and mineral. Toss in a bit of funk from wild ferment and this is an incredibly complex wine

Yellow Apple, pear and lemon. Fresh herbs. M+ acid. M body. Balanced with a very long finish of citrus fruits. Fantastic!

Delicious Assyrtiko with indigenous yeast, great minerality. Best consumed not too chilled so@the acidity is optimal

#Obsessed with this #Assyrtiko from #Gaia #2015 ❤️ This wine explodes on your tongue bright Citrus & big Acidity on first impact. Super Briny with slight herbal and white pepper notes. Benefits from decanting while you sip it... as the layers of flavors unfold as it warms up a little bit. This is a complex wine, that paired perfectly with my Spinach & Feta Pites, Greek Croquettes & Broiled Red Snapper @TheGreekTribeca ❤️ This wine is #WildFerment (they use only wild yeast from the grapes skin to ferment the wine). If you can find this, #DrinkThis ❤️🍷🍷🍷 #WineIsLove

100% Assyrtiko, 80 yrs old vines, ungrafted
Clear, medium straw yellow

Rich slightly smoky nose, with a hint of citrus scent.

Fresh medium plus acidity, medium body, 12.5 abv, 100% new large oak and acacia tanks. Complex, rich smoke infused lemon peel, wild orchard fruits, sea salt, great mineral character.

This is my second encounter with this wine and to my surprise, a much better one!

Det här vinet är fantastiskt. 2015 bättre än vd jag minns 2014 som. Svartkrut och flinta. Saltig havsbris och ljuvt krämig citron med lång mineralisk finish och skön syra. Wow!

Bracing acidity up front, lemon custard in the middle and dried flowers to finish.

This thing is weird. I love it. Lemons up front and though it seems like it will finish like a bigger fatty white wine, it turns bitter. Fantastic

Great Santorini's Assyrtiko. Less acidity than others, more "round" mouth with citrus notes.
