Frisinger Family Vineyard
Oak Knoll District Cabernet Sauvignon
Our favorite spot in all of Fort Worth finally allows BYOB! Needless to say, my wife and I were stoked! We decided to give something new a try, so we busted out this bottle we received in a trade with @Greg Ballington . I don't know much about this winery, but this is a nice little bottle. I don't recommend pop'n'pouring this, but after an hour it really opened nicely. Nose was a bit muted...mainly violet, floral notes, blackberry fruit. Not overly complex and the tannins aren't overbearing at all. Solid texture on the palate with a rush of licorice and underbrush, and then it dissipates to a very dark fruit and mocha sweet note. Curious to see how it tastes on day 2. Thanks for this, Greg!

Coravinned this bottle, will crack it open with a long long decant on Saturday. Color was dark opaque blood red with a purple hue. Nose was very savory, leather, meaty, smoked wood with vanilla and dark berries. Very extracted and took a while to open up, very slow attack. Vegetal finish and long. Once open for about an hour, notes of cassis began to show. Moderate tannins with a moderate body. Need to leave open for at least 4 hours next time. No rating this time.
