First of the blind Napa Valley Mountain reds. Deep ruby red. Attack of baking spices on the nose, almost coconut with some woody characteristics and purple floral notes. Solid acidity with medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium bodied. A touch of age showing through on the palate with some woody elements, black cherries, raspberries, dark cocoa and forest floor. A little bit of dark berry undertones. Medium length finish with lots of gravel. Drink till 2022. — 7 years ago
Our favorite spot in all of Fort Worth finally allows BYOB! Needless to say, my wife and I were stoked! We decided to give something new a try, so we busted out this bottle we received in a trade with @Greg Ballington . I don't know much about this winery, but this is a nice little bottle. I don't recommend pop'n'pouring this, but after an hour it really opened nicely. Nose was a bit muted...mainly violet, floral notes, blackberry fruit. Not overly complex and the tannins aren't overbearing at all. Solid texture on the palate with a rush of licorice and underbrush, and then it dissipates to a very dark fruit and mocha sweet note. Curious to see how it tastes on day 2. Thanks for this, Greg! — 7 years ago
