Densely packed Smaragd - fruit and herbs and a dash of botrytis thrown in for good measure. Pretty compelling stuff now, but has a ways to go yet, and more complexity to reveal.

About as good an example of Smaragd as I've seen recently. Cauliflower, honeyed, mealy apple, oily and rich.

Had it along with the 2011 Grauburgunder at what we affectionately referred to as the "Baller Lunch". Awesome Gruner from arguably the best producer in the Wachau.

Not something I would typically go for, but I could certainly appreciate it.

Something new for me as my wife and I travelled through Spitz in the Wachau. Seemed quite linear, as expected for its age. For its price, I'd hope it opens up in time. As more of a Riesling drinker, my first experience with this variety had me hooked to try more
