Bruised apples, a little heavier on RS and lighter on acid than expected - may be the vintage? Serious, well-made wine, a little too brooding at this point

Aug 4th, 2021This is a tremendously good Vouvray from the Pinon estate. Almost definitely the finest young example of their wine I’ve tried. Impressive especially given the heat of the vintage, is the acid and mineral backbone on top of which all those ripe and luxurious Chenin hallmarks hang. Electric apricot and wildflower honey. Sweetness held in check more than any of the other Pinon cuvees. Acid and sugar in perfect balance. Just goes on and on on the finish. Gets an extra point for being a ridiculous value at $26.
