Irancy Pinot Noir

The 2016 Irancy is 100% Pinot Noir. It was cropped at just 10hl/ha because of the frost and spent 14 months in Burgundy pièces. It has an attractive bouquet of confit-like red cherries, iodine and a touch of brown spice. The well-balanced palate presents sappy red berry fruit, fine but grippy tannin and a harmonious and quite persistent and fresh finish. This is a really impressive Irancy that does the AOC proud. Very nice, but bad quality control. Opened two bad bottles before we got a good one. Not corked; both were oxidized from bad closures. .

Light to medium bodied. Chalky nose and finish. Fresh, mouth-watering acid. Could see it at the start of a meal or midway with some creamy Camembert.

Surprisingly good for 23$. Some funk, brett, earthy, mostly dark fruit, cherry undertone.

Tasty and restrained Thai paring, dry and shy red fruit

Bought as a recommendation from a neighbour and it was ok, just ok. No big flavours or nose and we both said it would be perfectly acceptable to drink with a creamy cheese.
