Best BdeB I tasted, made from less than 2 acres Belles Voyes vineyard in Oger, vines planted in 1920’s, juice aged in old casks pre-bottling. Compare to those $350 boutique bottles! Showing 100-year old vine complexity, nice aromatics fine bubbles, tantalizing mousse, intense bouquet of ripe fruit. Creamy flavor of white flesh fruits, apple & pear, chalky mineral qualities, lemons with underlying sweetness. Elegant, well balanced, bright acidity, minerality, long tangy finish! Enjoy Valentine Day!

The new Belles Voyes is all 2009 and has no dosage at all. Freshly landed, this bottle shows more oak than it did when I tasted it in Avize. This did not detract from the experience- in fact, it made this large scale wine more Puligny like without waiting it down. This is the longest finishing no dosage Champagne I have ever tasted, with pure grand cru chalk lighting up the finish!

Tuesday night is single vineyard night! Thanks for sharing Cinnamon! This comes from a 1 & 3/4 acre plot planted in the late 20's or early 30's- no one remembers- in the mid slope of the Grand Cru of Oger. Sometimes I feel guilty about impacting the world supply with my consumption of this 3000 bottle wine, but not right now. Corton-Charlamagne like nutty richness and an endless chalk finish make this barrel fermented, 2008 vintage based Champagne one of the very best one can drink.
