Le Mons Helios Monthelíe Pinot Noir

Very 15 on the nose. That sunshine infused Burg fruit. Soupy but precise cherries. Really expansive. Also showing some secondary advancement with decaying leaves. Red cherries are very aromatically opulent. Palate is concentrated but elegant but also showing heat. It’s only 13% so maybe air will help. Juicy and clean with structure and a long finish with heat dissipating. This is just huge now but it’s all there. Needs air. Let’s see.

9.1 to 9.3 overnight. More together today and no heat. Great purity and balance and much more elegant but still a bit ripe for me.

I love this vintage. Haven’t had this in a while. Nose is reticent but very fine and refined. Brambly red cherries. Really delicate and detailed. So pretty. Strawberry. Palate is plush, deep and has gorgeous soft but substantial tannins. Needs mega air as this cuvee always does but superb quality. Nose gets more spicey as if aerates. Awesome fruit sweetness and such wonderful tiny berry fruit intensity.

Have not had since November 2018. This is in a great place now. Unreal forest floor, dead leaves and mega sous bois. Just gorgeous and showing signs of age. Mint. Super complex and so old school. Wonderful. Incredible minerality. Palate is still much more youthful than the nose suggests. Sappy, sweet, structured and deep. Unreal finesse, breadth and concentration. Tiny berry fruit intensity. Sweet tannins and awesome length. Really really long. Im sure air will really make this elite. Easy 9.5 right now

This is so so great. Nose is raspberry and mid season cherry, sous bois up the wazoo, floral, dead and fresh leaves, dried leaves, a forest of leaves, so clean, dynamic and pure. Awesome fresh fruit, so sappy and crunchy, mid season cherries, so deep, awesome tannins, ripe but substantial, so long. No rush.

Love this epic Monthelie. Nose is maturing nicely. Dead leaves, dead souls, big damson cherrie, big mineral, mushroom, gorgeous aromas. Palate is very elegant, rich and ripe. Velvety tannins and lovely sweetness. Really maturing on the palate and has that integration I do yearn for. So fresh and wonderful purity. Long. Drink them if you have then but no rush.

Stunning! what a nose. Big cherries, huge huge fruit, stones and spice, big silky palate with enormous sweetness and depth. Wonderful velvety tannins. Super juicy and fresh. Wonderful purity. So long. Amazing wine. A big boy for sure and no rush.

Old vines. Exceptional terroir. Monthelie village despite it being his BEST wine. Made like a Grand Cru. 30 hl/ha. Raised in rare new oak and only one in Burgundy to have it. Bottled, labeled and corked by hand. No fining and filtration. Serious layered aromas. Tiny concentrated fruits. Super powerful. Like a high end 1er Cru from Volnay and Pommard. Stunning. Long long long long. The ultimate ringer in a tasting.
