Superiore Bricco Appiani Barbera d'Alba

Rustic prune and raisins, leathery soil tones, mint. High acid subtle VA. Stylistically polarizing, maybe too backward.

Rich, dark fruit, leather and cigar smoke. Rally enjoyable and hedonistic. A value for $40 with this much age.

One of my favourite producer, Flavio Roddolo, Monforte d'Alba. Old style, rich. Superbe this Barbera Superiore 2001!

So good. Hope have another bottle.

Lots of prune, currants, broad acids, dried blackberry, steely tannins. Took a minute to open up, really delicious. 09/23/25

Certainly the most serious Barbera I think I’ve had, from a very traditional producer. I believe this vintage is actually his current release, which is a bit nuts (reminds me of Lopez de heredia...but with barbera). Deep dark color with deep red fruit on the nose and lots of good earth and some leather. Finish has good refreshing acidity, but this is better after 1 hr in the decanter vs 4. Very nice.

Medium bodied, with a little Earth, a little funk. A great, food-friendly wine @ Fausto BK
