When first opened, the flavors were kind of confused. But after breathing for about 45 minutes it was outstanding. Flavors of figs, dates, dried cranberries and earth. The wine is dry with a good long finish. It went well with the pork chop I paired it with. It was even better with my kids’ red Italian pasta dishes. I’m not sure if Barbera d’Asti is usually aged this long, but it worked. Many thanks to my brother Mike for providing this unique wine. It made celebrating my daughter’s birthday extra nice.
