Finca Nueva
Fermentado en Barrica Rioja Viura
Pretty solid for being viura.. Some peach and musky pear on the nose, a touch of saline on the entry.. Underripe yellow apple skin and a bit of caramel candy on the palate. Very complex for being $15.. A nice different white that paired well with Asian spiced chicken.

Jul 7th, 2015Wine 2 of 4 of the second Total Wine holiday world tour. This wine is 100% Viura, or Macabéo, a Spanish white grape grown primarily to supplement Cava sparkling wines or to use in blends. The Viura grape makes up to 90% of the still white wine produced in Rioja. It produces a medium acid wine meant to consume young. I drank this as an aperitif - not knowing how sweet it would run. But for the price point, not a bad table white wine for those who like a sweeter white wine. ~$16 | #totalwine #viura #rioja #whitewine
On the eyes: Golden yellow, bright, light stain, med- tears. No gas/floc.
On the nose: Lemon rind, floral notes, and granite with a slight bitter nuttiness. Med alcohol.
On the tongue: Med tannin, med acid, med alcohol, creamy and round. Muscadine, ripe peach, and clementine that finishes with mineralty. A bit of a cloying finish however - more so as it warms.

Extremely good. A bit sweet but not terribly. Certainly will become part of my list
