Single cru vineyard, 60y old vines grown on volcanic tuff.
Beautifully floral & expressive on the nose with bright cherry, cedar wood, exotic spices, a touch of dark plum, a pronounced note of crushed, volcanic rock. Showing first hints of evolution but so bright & alive. Amazing, I could be smelling this forever.
On the palate this is a stunning contradiction. Brutish & seemingly rough yet so elegant & charming at the same time.
The unforgiving tannic grip so juicy, slowly mellowing, showing the polished quality below the brute force. The acidity cutting across with citrus freshness, a mineral core underneath the dark fruit, which is filling the edges in th back.
This is a stunner, slowly peaking at 8y of age.
A truly beautiful, profound wine. No wonder they call Taurasi the Barolo of the south.
