This is not Nero De Avela. It's Primitivo varietal.

Great dry red, very balanced, smell is good but not strong, goes well with red meat, mushrooms, pasta.

2013 Primitivo..Dark black cherries with a smidge of cinnamon and maybe a touch of spice on the nose. A nice light to medium bodied wine. Not overly jammy on the palate. It has a drying and spiciness to it. I actually like this one. Pairing with steak!

The Italian version of Zinfandel which is probably why I like it so much! You can tell it's Italian because it's got the fruit, but also the spice and smoke, and a fuller body than a typical Zin. This wine is from Puglia has dark ripe fruit on the nose, licorice with a little smoke or toastiness. Medium ruby in color, body, and tannins, that grip just slightly but in all the right ways. On the palate you get a ton of fruit being cherry, plum, and blackberry, also notes of spice and that hint of heat from the alcohol. I really enjoyed it especially with the sweet chicken sausage, red pepper, and pasta in a red sauce I made :)
