Basic, solid Conero Montepulciano. Somewhat reticent nose of warm gravel, crushed rock, and dark berries. The potentially coarse nature of Montepulciano is well managed on the palate. There are dark, medium intensity flavors of black cherry, smoky gravel, and underbrush. Nice texture and acid balance. Only 13%, yay! Nicely done.

The 2019 Rosso Conero (Montepulciano) mixes dark red fruits with cracked stone, mineral tones and spiced citrus. Soft in texture yet high in energy, the 2019 impresses with its drinkability and acidity. A salty flourish blends with tart berries throughout. The 2019 is a total pleasure today. $24.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2022)

Nice tightrope between balance and rustic. Nose has old leather, dried loamy soil, dark cherry skins, and licorice. Friendlier in the mouth, it’s soft, with resolves light tannins and good acids to complement the straightforward winey flavors. Great weeknight companion to country Italian dinners. HT to my brother for gifting it to me.

A fruit-forward yet wonderfully fresh red, showing a mix of cherry, raspberry, sweet herbs and spice. Cooling minerals and earth tones balance the warmth of the 2015 vintage nicely. Vinified in large neutral oak. $18.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, August 2020)

Very quintessential Italian here. Sweet pipe tobacco, green leaf, stems, wrapped in some dark red fruits just in time for the holidays
