Interesting aromas of cooked plums, nuts, coffee and oak. Bright cherry, black tea and tobacco flavors. A bit of gaminess on the finish. Nicely polished tannins and bright acidity.

Fruity but not in a sweet or bad way. I don't know a lot about Italian wine but this was pleasant with a vegetarian, noodle-less lasagna.

Disappointing for a riserva. Air helped a bit and food was a definite complement, but it lacked complexity and never really got off the ground for me. Not a bad wine, but didn't meet expectations.
