Very pretty. Old book and earth. Fruit is fading but this still has intrigue and a lot of soul.

From magnum, this was a bit muted and restrained with a shy nose of red cherry, blackberry, allspice and mint notes. Lively entry with Sangiovese’s austere tannins. Red cherry, cranberry and cassis fruit in the mouth. Lacked the density I expected. Paired really well with the wild boar ragu and pappardelle.

The was a show stopper wine. Allspice mingles with earthy mineral tones with bright red cherry, cranberry and red current fruit. The palate is rich but restrained with noble austerity to the sour and red cherry, pomegranate fruit. Supple, bright tannins but with a real sense of grip. Long and bright on the finish. Close to its peak but looks to have lots of life.

Drinking nicely at 20 years... only slight browning at rim... amazingly vibrant fruit. Sour dry cherry with tobacco notes. Nice long finish and plenty of fruit left. Perfect foil for Tuscan boar ragu in Florence, Italy.
