Evans & Tate
Redbrook Margaret River Shiraz
Rich dark fruit and smoked meats. Better on third day opening. 2010 vintage.

Apr 19th, 2015We decided to dip into the cellar last week for the official Shiraz Day. We pulled out this 2011 Evans & Tate Redbrook Shiraz from WA’s Margaret River and enjoyed it with some Indian takeaway. Delish!
It definitely doesn’t hint to its age in the glass with its brilliant deep juicy plum red colour. It’s elegant on the nose and very tantalising with notes of juicy blackcurrant, black plums, blueberries and spice coming through for me. It’s medium bodied, elegant and refined on the palate.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

How do you cellar your wine?
I have 2 Vintec fridges which are set at cellaring temp (12 degrees) and I also have an under the stairs stash (as they don’t all fit in my fridges 😅).
I use the Oeno by Vintec cellar app to keep a track of what’s in the fridges as well as under the stairs (you can use the app for any type of cellar, it doesn’t have to be a Vintec product).
I recently reorganised and updated my app so I know exactly what’s in there and what I may need to drink in 2021.
While doing this, I got enticed to crack open a bottle of Evans & Tate 2011 Redbrook Shiraz from WA’s Margaret River. I have a few bottles so I figured if I crack one now and see how it is, I can then decide whether to open the rest this year or keep it longer.
And what am I going to do?
Keep it!
It’s tasting beautifully however it will go longer for sure. From it’s bricky 🧱 red yet vibrant colour in the glass to all the yummy aromas of things like blackcurrants, violets, plums and spice. It’s silky and voluptuous in the mouth yet elegant and refined. A truly beautiful wine 🥰🍷

Another awesome vino to celebrate #aussiewinemonth - thank you Evans & Tate & the Margaret River for this beauty! We picked up a few of these 2011 Redbrook Shiraz's from the cellar door a couple of years ago and every now and then we pull one out of the cellar when we're in the mood for a fab red.
On the eye it's a deep garnet shade with a peppery nose that also has hints of cherries, vanilla and dairy milk chocolate. On the palate it has beautiful coffee bean acidity on the mid-palate with plentiful cassis and cherry jamminess. PS: It matches very well with Magic Mike XXL 😜
