Metricup Road Shiraz
Before the ill-fated 08' Dom incident. A bottle from the in-law's cellar and as I understand, locally procured... So colour me surprised when it poured out without even the slighest a tinge of brown. Perhaps there's hope after all for wines available in my hometown... Or perhaps I just struck gold in a sea of heat-damaged, light-struck wines... Or perhaps it's the golden combination of a "million-litre" production sulphur regime and Stelvin-sealed bottling. Whatever the case is, this was a rather pleasant experience - soft, mellowed out Shiraz fruits with heaps of pepper and meat. Not overly complex, but hits all the right notes.

Dec 13th, 2020A solid Aussie Shiraz at a great price point. Perfect with lamb loin chops.

May 1st, 2016Not the big jammy Shiraz I was looking for, but not bad. The nose consists of dark chocolate, blackberry, black cherry, burnt toffee and a whiff of menthol and tobacco. The palette delivers the fruit first, but it feels like cool climate fruit. A touch of rhubarb adds a bit of bitterness, while dusty earth and dried currants close things out. A robust 15% alcohol is barely noticeable. A well rounded affair.
