This bottle has been properly cellared since release. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best on Day 1. The 2013 pours a deep garnet color with a rusty rim; medium viscosity and no staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is mature with predominate notes of desiccated bramble fruits, leather, coffee, nuts and decomposing organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry and structure has all but fallen off; barely keeping balance. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium and savory. We didn’t finish the bottle so I revisited the next day. By then it had pretty much fallen out of balance. At this point, the 2013 Espelt is tired. Drink now.

Great blueberry aroma, a little shallow mid-palate, but a just-right level of tannin supporting the medium-long finish makes it worth the large $9 outlay :)

Nice ruby color. Bright red fruit followed by a little earth and stone. Medium body, subdued tannins, tart finish.

Really nice black fruit wrapped in dark dry organic earth. Great with raw garlic.
