This bottle has been properly cellared since release. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best on Day 1. The 2013 pours a deep garnet color with a rusty rim; medium viscosity and no staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is mature with predominate notes of desiccated bramble fruits, leather, coffee, nuts and decomposing organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry and structure has all but fallen off; barely keeping balance. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium and savory. We didn’t finish the bottle so I revisited the next day. By then it had pretty much fallen out of balance. At this point, the 2013 Espelt is tired. Drink now.

Subtle spice, bright fruits. A smooth and easy going Grenache that pairs well with mild cuts of meat!

Dark purple in color with a light purple rim.

Fruity nose of mainly red berries and blueberries, cherries, sweet plums, red lollipop, tobacco leaf, ripe strawberries, light oak, light vanilla, licorice, leather, earth, currants, pencil lead, dark chocolates and black pepper.

Medium bodied with high acidity and nice thin legs.

Dry on the palate with blueberries, plums, raspberries, oak, licorice, spices, light vegetables, earth, forest floor and peppercorn.

Medium finish with fine, yet green tannins, and tart cherries.

A Nice Granacha from Spain.
Very easy drinking, good right out of the bottle and gets better after 90 minutes in a decanter. A good everyday wine and a good wine to pair with food.
I paired it with a cheese plate of soft and hard cheeses.

Not too obnoxious but clearly very young. An additional year or two in the bottle would be nice.

Grapes are grown on Granite, sandy soil. Aged for 4 months in French Oak barrels.

14% alcohol by volume.
