A lot of VA. Beaujolais-like. Carbonique? Better the next day. Roasted meat. Cherries!

Oct 14th, 2021Purple wine & I don’t get along, & so thought twice about going in on a any bottle so garishly labeled as purple—but this Montsant Garnacha blend, while seriously juicy, feels relatively svelte & restrained. Baby S. Rhône comparisons aside, for under 12$ on sale it’s a slam dunk for those who like their fruit up front. Garrique & some (but not much) tannic structure round it out. Eric Solomon importer & cuvée- king of the QPR.

2 people found it helpfulSep 7th, 201750% Grenache, 30% Carignane, 20% Syrah. Fermented seperately in stainless, Carignane and Syrah matured in Barrique before blending. Notes of partial carbonic, guessing Carignane.
Gave and hour decant, better 1.5+. Tannin mellowed, fruit was nice, some over-ripe notes. Some darker plonk notes later on, but never overpowering. Overall, great under $15 selection.

I tried this for the first time almost 15 years ago and always buy it when I can find it. It is still an exceptional wine every year and incredible value. Very similar to a higher end Cotes Du Rhone. Buy it by the case…🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Dec 5th, 2021Very approachable blend! Ripe black fruit, licorice, fig jam on the nose. Soft and velvety tannins with some dustiness and herbs on the palate. Holds up nicely to roasted chicken
