This was a 2008 and it was spectacular! Brilliant, pale garnet red with an orange rim. Medium density. Intensely aromatic and complex. High toned rose petal notes, black cherry, cassis, and a hint of graphite. High acid, hint of bitter, high heat (15% abv) is somewhat masked by extracted, viscous, extracted, silky body. Highly astringent but ripe tannins. The long finish begins with a mouthfilling rose petal perfume, followed by red cherry, tomato leaf and sweet basil. Oak flavor and aroma (coconut) is a well integrated background component. Concentrated but delivers the Nebbiolo message with finesse.
