Navazos-Niepoort Vino Blanco
From Jerez and the Sherry grape palomino fino; straw yellow heavy on the swirl with a bunch of rod-like filamentous residue that sinks to the bortom of the glass; marsipan, ripe tangerines and boquets of wildflowers dominate the nose; taste is austere, low-medium acids, and clearly sherry-like, the structure reminds me of a north Rhône viognier. Well made and fresh and excellent with Beemster!

May 22nd, 2021Non fortified Palomino from Jerez aged for 8 months in barrel under flor and bottled at 12% abv.
Clean, medium + intense aromas. Opens up with acetaldehyde, fermenting bread dough, and crushed almonds. The fruit entries with lemon juice and yellow fresh apples with a present chalky and sea shell, salty minerality. Fresh acidity, drying chalky texture, flavours of lemon juice, nuts, chalk and bread dough, linear mid palate and a good but not impresscive finish

Fucking amazing. That salty, savory character from aging under flor, but not fortified. Maintains some ripe and dried fruit character, finishes with some marcona notes. Basically ideal

Aug 25th, 2013Unfortified flor-aged 100% Palomino by Dirk Niepoort & Equipo Navazos, sourced from the historic Macharnudo vineyard in Jerez. Fermented in old, 600-liter oak casks with indigenous yeasts and aged for 12 months under flor. Oxidative nose with hints hay and pineapple. Light, mineral, precise and bone dry on the mouth, with nice saltiness and a long, somewhat bitter finish.
