Here’s a cool one: Picotener is a sub-varietal of Nebbiolo that actually performs better than the average in more extreme conditions. This is an experimental wine and it’s a home run in my eyes. You can taste the youth on the vines, but when it picks up, I can totally see this being a new age version of my favourite grape for the future. Has a lot of the flavour characteristics that I love about Nebbiolo (roses, cigar box, cherry), but a more youthful fruitiness. Im a fan. Hope it catches on.
