Fun tasting at Weygandt Wines with John Lockwood. This was the first of four wines being poured. Medium pale yellow. A bit tight on the nose. A bit toasty with a touch of stone fruits. Moderate acidity (6.5/10) and light plus bodied. Well integrated with lemon zest and pears on the palate. Not oaky but a slight woody note and solid minerality in the backbone. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2019.

John says to drink these early, so I'm happy to oblige! This is everything that a typical California Chardonnay is not, with really bright energy and copious amounts of acid. There's a nice kick of apple juice on the finish, making this stupidly easy to keep drinking.

Day 2 and this is firing on all cylinders. Gorgeous wine. Silly value. @John Lockwood is lucky this isn’t the 1600s or he would be accused of witchcraft.
