Lots of “terroir” shines through in this Zin. Nose has the requisite blackberry fruit, but there is a ton of warm sandstone and crushed rock, along with moist humus, allspice, and wafty sandalwood smoke. Savory, soft, and tacky-feeling in the mouth. loads of crushed rock. A level of complexity rare for Zin.

Bright blackberry scents and pure and zingy. Some smoky scents too. Savory and minerally in the mouth, with little flickers of the bright fruit as well. Full body.

Zinny, who is about to get the porterhouse bone, says “Hurry up with the damn photo shoot.” He also likes this Zin a lot. A leaner and more savory profile than most, it’s got a brambly nose and blackberry fruit with savory, almost garrigue-like notes. Broad-shouldered, but with good acids for a Zin, it’s very distinctive.

Immediately noticeable is the purity of the nose, an Elyse trademark. Perfectly ripe and focused black raspberry. Cracked stone scents emerge with air, along with sweet baking spices. Mouthfilling and mostly soft, but there’s a bit of youthful tightness and some significant tannin, indicating this will benefit from a few years in the cellar. The finish is extraordinarily long for a Zin, and ends with a note of pure fruit. Excellent!

Last one in the cellar, wish I had more. Drinking great. Not a ton of fruit, blackberries very smooth. secondary, oak apparent but very integrated at this point. Nice structure. Feels like an aged Spanish wine.

Delightful, light bodied and elegant. The stewed fruits come through after a while. Maybe a touch heavy with the oak but very enjoyable.

About 25 years ago I bought all these spices to bake a German Christmas cake. I burned it, but that’s not the point. The nose on this brought back the pre- burn baking smell. That and raspberry jam. Not an alcohol - dominant fruit bomb. This has finesse! Really enjoyable. Thanks to my brother for this.

Structured, elegant old-world style Zin from a legendary mtn vineyard. Considerable power but not overdone in the least. Needs to sleep for a few years. Oak and tannin a bit out of whack.
