Very fluid and rich, but not jammy. Rich blackberry fruit with sweet spice on the nose. In the mouth it’s rich and enveloping, with very low acidity, but that’s not necessarily unbalancing it. On the palate the fruit is augmented with a granular sandstoney minerality. A tad bit of heat in the finish.

Aug 9th, 2021Elyse is a benchmark Zin producer IMHO and this is a solid effort. Needs some air because it’s a little locked up initially. Then it gives off classic Napa Zin scents of restrained and pure black raspberry and warm gravel. It’s also got a thing that reminds me of an old rich guy’s mahogany and Corinthian leather appointed library. It’s low-toned in the mouth, with a peppery scorched earth thing initially, with fruit coming on later. For me, the scorched earth thing brings the composite down a bit.

Korte Ranch located north of St. Helens along Napa River, having gnarly head trained vines, at least 70-years old, thriving there, and was a bonded winery before prohibition. Deep Ruby with aromas of black fruits and complex spice adding a bit of floral notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with layers of spices, cinnamon and vanilla with slight citrus tone. Fine structured tannins, long finish on this full-bodied wine ending with fruit, oak and spice character. Should develop nicely over next 5+ years. Outstanding! Tasting Sample!

Turning into a Zin night (@Martin G Rivard - your favorite 😂😂). While from the same vineyard this is a totally different style compared to the Studio 750 Korte Ranch. Still fruit-driven, this is much more restrained. Dark fruit, loads of vanilla, medium tannins.

A well made ripe Zinfandel, rich full bodied, nose is full of ripe black cherries, coffee, tobacco, plums, full body , soft tannins, lacking a bit of acidity, long smoky finish. A bit overwhelming for me, yet a typical Californian zin that is well made. My score 86, drink to 2018

This is full-bodied and a big California zin with dark fruits and black pepper on the palate. Elyse is always reliable and their Korte Ranch is outstanding.
