Lurid ruby-red. An array of fresh red fruit, floral and spice scents are joined by hints of cola and smoky minerals as the wine opens up. Juicy and energetic in style, particularly in the context of the vintage, offering raspberry, rose pastille and star anise flavors that deepen and spread out on the back half. Closes impressively long and sappy; fine-grained tannins sneak in late. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Dec 2016)

A bit young, but delicious. Substantial very fine tannins and a strong streak of minerality show the potential for this wine. Very nice now, better in two to three years.

2022 vintage. Medium body. Big boysenberry right off the bat. Juicy. Could use some more tannins. Maybe they’ll show up at some point. 3.27.24.

2021 vintage. The usual Elk Cove package of fairly big fruit + some pixie dust sprinkles of tannic structure. Juicy, pretty ripe and on the verge of OR fruit bomb squad. 3.10.23.

2021 vintage. After the fires...Ripe, opulent and giving with some structure but could have used a tad more structure. Still delicious and in that inimitable, Elk Cove style. 3.6.23.
