Rex Hill Vineyards

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2015

This is Rex Hill not Elk Cove...smoky on the nose, nicely restrained fruit, but a little too acidic for my taste - maybe needs to sit longer? Opened an hour early but still plenty of sparkle — 2 months ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1988

Drunk review 5: this tastes bushy. I know this, because I’ve been pushed into bushes. Blackberry, cardamon. Airy, woodsy aftertaste. Super enjoyable. Would pair this with pets for a Brittany dog, a English Setter, or a Norwegian Elk hound— a dog that enjoys navigating the woods. — 3 months ago

Bushiness is the best and usually gets trash talked. Amazing review and happy tasting!

Gabutti Barbera d'Alba 2015

Selected from the HSWM shelf to accompany the bevy of wines from Piemonte already at the table. I’ve been a huge fan of Cappellano’s Barbera d'Alba in the past and this certainly impressed, as I expected it would. It worked really well with the hangar steak but it was holding something back. We took the remaining half of the bottle home and the real fireworks show came on Day 2 paired with some homemade Bolognese that I made with some ground elk. Undergrowth, dark fruit, figs, dark tilled earth, cumin, spiced meat and what fantastic acid!! Tannins seem to be medium. Sediment appears to be medium plus…lol…there’s a lot. Yes, the price is steep for a "modest" Barbera but when you consider the overall quality and satisfaction, this absolutely delivers and absolutely worth it. — 24 days ago

@Daniel Bloom yeah...for some reason, the app likes to mess with vintages from time to time 🤷🏽‍♂️

Castellare di Castellina

I Sodi di San Niccolò Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2016

Superior fruit for an Italian wine. Have never had this wine before and it is a mind blower. Incredible fresh fruit; had with elk meatballs and spaghetti. Awesome combination. — 2 months ago

Drinking this double-blind is always a stumper. Quality for price is fantastic.
