Hawke's Bay Syrah

Gotta think Hawkes Bay Syrah is going to get more attention this is different in style than the Te Mata - blueberry fruit good intensity spice roasted meat little bigger tannins and oak

North island, east coast, this syrah of 4 plots is fermented with 1% viognier and sees a significant amount of new oak. Well made and a few people around the table (not me) preferred it over a N. Rhone of much higher price probably due to its sweet spicyness and approachable style.

Softened out quite nicely now, with good deep black fruit, only gentle black pepper now, exotic spice, clove and smoke. Good depth behind wine

Who knew you could get Syrah like this in NZ... Black pepper, meaty, and still some red fruit shining through, great structure too.

Big pepper, juicy, bacon and still sweet fruited, yet balanced.. More bacon. Impressive NZ Syrah

From Gimblett Gravels. Black raspberry, blueberry, anise, pepper. Proper Syrah with excellent lift.
