El Coto de Rioja
Blanco Rioja Verdejo
While I expected a really sharp and racy nose from this yellow tinted wine, what I found was much softer. A floral note shares space with a lovely citrus component which smells more like tangerine than lemon. There is also a hint of honeydew melon. On the palate, the mineral-driven flavors lean more heavily into citrus while the acidity is zesty at best, not razor sharp. Mostly Viura with small portions of Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo grapes.

Jul 27th, 2023Vintage 2021 | Nice grape Verdejo but not easy to recognize tasted blind imo. This has a mineral character with prominent bitters. Excellent for appetizing ánd lunch. This is a vibrant wine. Paired with a salad with chicken thigh. At restaurant RAK.

Apr 2nd, 2023Not the greatest of tempranillos, could use more of a full, buttery, oaky finish, but certainly a strong middle of the pack contender for tempranillos with more red fruits than one would expect. In other words, well above the unsophisticated, acidic edge you’ll find in poor tempranillos, but not the type that will linger in your mouth and mind, with a robust finish.

Plenty of apples, pear, and a hint of quince maybe. Comes with a pineapple streak too. The muskiness is also in the mouth. Bite of tannins works well. This is a lovely unique little blanco.
