Warm, spicy number that didn’t quite reach syrupy proportions, but close. Dark hued, with blackberry, black cherry and licorice on the palate and a savory finish. This didn’t reach the root beer / cola / sweet end of the spectrum and identified itself with some old world funk, but CA Pinot drinkers would enjoy this nonetheless. Can’t say I was upset with the €22 that I paid, but I’m not running out to re-up either.

Mar 23rd, 2020This 2011 is a pleasant surprise... with bottle age, some roasted white mushrooms, a metallic or flinty note (tiny bit of Brett?), some whiffs of a rustic cellar... all very slight, and mostly complementary to the tart cherry, raspberry, and almond flavors. Terrific for 2011. With a little air, even tastier. SommSelect Spring 2018.
