Edge Hill
Bacigalupi Vineyard Chardonnay
This is holding up surprisingly well. Nose present roasted pineapple, rosemary and hints of bread. Palette is balanced and restrained. Sweet notes and soft acidity caress the mid palate. Glorious combination with outstanding pizza. Bivio, Montclair.

Sep 2nd, 2023Absolutely stunning. Words are tough to find to describe this beautiful example. Drinking perfectly now. Butterscotch, caramel and almonds define this. Finish is caressing with softish acidity. Drink these now if you have them..

Mar 19th, 2023Renovations update - the stairs are in. And is there a better way to mark the occasion that with a Baciaglupi chard? Presents a beautiful, rich yellow color in the glass. Notes of lemon curd and pineapple almost overwhelm on the nose. The palate is multi-layered, and rounded. Perfect tension between the acid and fruit on the mid-palate. Stunning...

Apr 28th, 2019I always love this chard! My first time trying the ‘14...big and powerful as expected. Toasted oak up front with ripe stone fruit on the back to add to the complexity. Honeydew, honeyed cashews and creme brûlée. Lots of signature Bacigalupi notes here in spades.

Dec 27th, 2018Monthly WTF wine group. Special event this month as Ben provided all ‘80s Napa cabs. A few of us chipped in and provided some whites/bubbly.
My contribution for the evening as I knew @Benjamin Keator loved this wine. No change in notes compared to my last bottle opened 3 months ago. Big and rich. Powered through 2+hrs of air time. Layers of salted popcorn, butter, and lemon cream. Only other west coast chard that reminds me of this profile is Kongsgaard.

Nuff said! We’ve had a case of it. Another 5/7 years in it.

Sep 15th, 20184th Friday of the month means another monthly Classic happy hour! Great wines, great people.
This was my contribution last night. One of the more profound Cali chards I’ve come across. Powerhouse! The richness and front palate power is very similar to Kongsgaard. Viscous. The notes are honeyed, but not lean...not even compared to the Aubert that was on the table with it. Not overly buttery, more just high quality chard that commands your attention. Mexican vanilla, toasted almonds, and honeyed brioche. The finish goes on forever...lots of cashew, melon, and coconut shell. No stone/tropical fruits here. An absolutely KILLER bottle, @Martin G Rivard , thank you for the intro here!
