Crafted in small lots from several Pinot Noir clones and was vinified in a traditional Burgundian manner.

A difficult site yielding fruit that shows more savory earth than mountain ruggedness. A cerebral Pinot; like Chambolle that took sanctuary in the High Forest.

On day one, it's hard to approach. Lots of edges and spurs. On day three, it settles in. Aromas like cherry cordial, cinnamon and dried herbs. Assertive concentration delivers lively pomegranate, cherry, underripe plum flavors with tannins that should mellow with time. I appreciate that it doesn't read like a Cal Pinot, and sets its own, high-elevation Sierra Foothills course.

Aromatic in the traditional Burgundian style.
